Calvin found yoga in the mid 70's while serving in the Navy through Richard Hittleman as a way to de-stress from the rigors of military life. Fast forward to the opening of Revival Yoga Fitness Studio on Marco Island where he immersed himself in the practice and soon developed a thirst for knowledge of everything yoga. He completed his 200 hour teacher training with Amy Lucky at Yoga Loft in Naples, FL while simultaneously developing his Ashtanga yoga practice.
The ashtanga primary series is known as yoga chikitsa which means yoga therapy and is therapeutic for the mind, body and spirit. This was followed up with 10 days of vipassana medition training at the vipassana center in Shelbourne, MA, and ashtanga workshops with Fiona Stang, Kino Macgregor and Eddy Rivero. Calvin found yin yoga as a more meditative form of yoga that was also therapeutic and complemented his Vinyasa practice. He completed 65 hours of yin yoga and myofascial release training with Jo Phee, one of the worlds premiere experts in this field and became certified to teach this form of yoga.
